MERRYN Philp, aged twelve, from Polyphant continues to build on her successes in her pig showing.

Merryn has shown two British Saddlebacks this year. Her January born Gilt was placed second and her July Gilt (Freestone Dinah 11) gained first place in her class, qualifying her for the British Saddleback Breeding Females Championship at the Great Yorkshire Show in July.

She also qualified to compete in the heat for The Pig of the Year Competition on Saturday.

Merryn’s pig exceeded all of her expectations by winning the best Traditional Female Heat and then judged as the overall winner.

The final of The BPA Pig of the Year Competition will also be held at the Great Yorkshire Show in July.

Merryn then went on to compete in the Young Handlers Class in which she won her class and was awarded the Reserve Champion Young Handler.

This is Merryn’s eighth year showing and she is delighted and very proud to have bred and shown her very own British Saddleback that has qualified for these championships.

Charlotte has also had another successful year with her chickens and eggs, winning four second places, two firsts and her decorated egg was judged as best in show.

Charlotte and Merryn both attended The Royal Bath and West Show again this year where Charlotte was awarded various first and second places and Merryn gained two third places and won the Young Handler Class for nine to twelve-years-old.
