THE sun was out, the snow had melted and 35 enthusiastic volunteers met at Crooklets as part of the Beachcare monthly beach clean on Sunday.

The clean coincided with Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean Event, which beach clean organiser Deb Rosser said was great to be a part of.

Beachcare is a KBT project that has been running since 2009. Deb has been running the monthly cleans for eight years.

They cleaned Crooklets, Summerleaze, Middle Maer and Wrangles beaches.

Deb said: “As the offshore winds last week had not brought much rubbish up on the beaches we extended the clean to the promenade and beach hut areas as well as the beach.

“We picked up 0.5 black bin bag full of non recyclable litter and 0.5 bag full of hard plastic that will be recycled into kayaks!”
