FOUR students from Budehaven Community School, who were announced as winners in the national Apps for Good Awards 2014, will launch their published app onto the market on February 5 at the Thomson Reuters offices in Canary Wharf, London.
The launch will see the ShoreCast app become available in the Apple App store. The app is designed to help users find the best place to surf locally, with the latest conditions and user ratings.
The app won the My Planet category, sponsored by Thomson Reuters, at the Apps for Good Awards last June. The team has spent the past six months working with development agency, Fuerte International, to have their app prototype built professionally, ready to be launched on to the market at the public event next month.
The app creation, award-win, and full development, concludes the Apps for Good course, which has been mapped to national curriculum standards.
The course is provided free of charge to teachers, to transform the way technology is taught in schools; to empower students from all backgrounds to seize the opportunities of our digital age and create solutions to the problems they care about, using technology.
