FOUR Budehaven Community School students, who won the national Apps for Gold Awards 2014, will launch their published app onto the market today (Thursday) in London.
The app launch will see the ShoreCast app become available in the Apple App store. It is designed to help users find the best place to surf locally with the latest conditions and user ratings.
It won the 'My Planet' category sponsored by Thomson Reuters at the Apps for Good Awards last June. The team has spent the past six months working with development agency, Fuerte International, to have their app prototype built professionally, ready to be launched on to the market at the public event in February, supported by Apps for Good and Thomson Reuters.
The students behind the app, Archie Hedge-Evans, Ben Morrison, Jay Beavan and Tom Fry, all 14, said: "At the start of our computing GCSE in 2013 we started the Apps for Good course which required us to design and develop an app idea.
"We started out with many good ideas, brainstorming together until we found one that we all believed in. The app development process is now finished and it will be launched on February 5.
"Overall we have all loved the process; it has taught us a lot about what goes into making an app and we would recommend it to anyone who is interested in computers and app development."
