A MAN from St Giles on the Heath has ‘braved the shave’ in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Stuart Nicholson had his hair and beard shaved off on Thursday, February 21 at the Pint and Post pub in St Giles, in order to raise funds for cancer charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Stuart had his head shaved by Rodney Arnold, a hairdresser from Launceston, who kindly offered his services for free.

He was keen to fundraise for Macmillan, having had first-hand experience of the effects of cancer.

He said: “Both my parents died from cancer and my brother had cancer as well. We had Macmillan nurses caring for them, so I just wanted to give something back.”

Before the shave, Stuart had a generous beard and head of hair on him. He laughed saying: “The last time I had a haircut was August last year!”

The Pint and Post pub was kind enough to let Stuart have his head shaved there, while the village shop also took donations in for the cause.

Stuart added: “It went well, there was quite a crowd there!”

He extended thanks to everyone who made a donation, as well as to the Pint and Post and to Rodney’s customers, who raised a further £100 for the cause.

In total Stuart managed to raise a total of £550 for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.
