It was reported in the 'Post', (April 2), that a public meeting was held on March 25 and attended by many Bude residents concerned over Seasons Holidays plc's proposal to build a new access road from the top of Broadclose Hill to Burn Park Holiday Village.

In response to strong local opposition to Seasons' proposal an opposition group 'Bude Residents Against Burn Park Access Road' (BRABPAR) has been formed. BRABPAR is working hard to action the issues raised at the public meeting.

Already a 130 signature petition has been sent to Cornwall Council to register the level of resistance. This was achieved without any effort, or attempt to press residents into signing the petition.

Many local residents have written to Cornwall Council expressing their opposition to Seasons' proposal. It is not too late to record your opposition as this does influence decisions made at County Hall. BRABPAR questions why Seasons are willing to pay a vastly inflated sum of money to buy land, or obtain access rights, from Bude Football Club?

Why are Seasons majority funding the new access road on Cornwall Council owned land? Why does Cornwall Council deem Seasons' proposal safer than the existing school access road? Will a second access road into Burn Park Holiday Village promote more development on land designated as 'Open Area of Local Significance'? With a Bude access road will Seasons apply to change land use in the future?

BRABPAR's initial aim is to oppose Seasons signing an 'Option Agreement' with Cornwall Council and Bude FC. Our concern is that should the three parties sign the Option Agreement it will significantly increase Seasons' prospects of obtaining planning consent for a new road.
