THERE is an opportunity for local groups and charities to be aided by the Persimmon Community Champions fund, following another successful year for the company.

The Persimmon Homes team has also been congratulated by the director in charge of the Launceston-based company for an outstanding performance in 2015.

Daniel Heathcote said his team, based across the region, helped to deliver an increase in underlying profits before tax of 34% to £637.8-million — this is in comparison with £475-million in 2014.

Persimmon’s revenues were also up by 13% to £2.9-billion, with their legal house completions increasing by 8% to 14,572.

Mr Heathcote said: “2015 was an excellent year for the business, the results are a total team effort and we were delighted to deliver vital new homes across the region in areas including Plymouth, Liskeard and Newquay.

“2016 looks set to be even busier for the team with new homes planned to be built in Truro and Falmouth.

“As we build further homes, we can create more sustainable jobs in the region both directly and indirectly through the diverse range of local suppliers we work with each day.

“Employing the right people to help us grow the business even further remains a key focus for the team in Cornwall and we have a number of posts available now, with more coming later in the year.”

Persimmon has in place a nine-and-a-half year strategic plan and they have just completed the fourth year — with their performance significantly ahead of the original schedule.

Due to the recent strong performance the company will be able to accelerate the Capital Return Plan — with a cash return of £1.10 per share to be made on April 1 this year.

Alongside the work the company has done in the home building trade, it has also delivered funding for local groups and charities through the Persimmon Community Champions programme.

It launched the programme last March and the company’s team chooses two charities per month to donate to.

Persimmon Community Champions programme is carrying on into 2016 and charities and groups can be nominated for funding online at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
