THREE young musicians from Launceston performed with 'great panache and skill' at a Rotary event.

The three, Thomas Sherman and Holly and Josie Whale, took part in the preliminary event for the Rotary Young Musician of the Year 2014, which was held at St Austell College last Saturday week.

This year, for the first time, Launceston Rotarian John Stabb enabled three young people from Launceston to participate.

John said: "Because we in Launceston did not have enough contestants to run our own contest, we combined with St Austell Rotary Club and there were 14 competitors.

"The standard was very high and it goes to demonstrate that there are tremendously talented youngsters in our area."
