RESIDENTS in West Devon can nominate a hero for the borough’s annual Mayoral Awards — nominations close on February 29.
The awards celebrate the unsung heroes and heroines of the area, recognising the achievements of those who have accomplished something remarkable in West Devon, or in improving the reputation of the borough on the national stage.
Residents of all ages are eligible for the awards, which fall into three categories: a young person (aged under 18); an organisation, or person (over 18); and an individual or group who have made a significant contribution to the conservation and protection of the natural environment of West Devon.
Last year the winners included a green award to the ‘Forgotten Garden of Lewtrenchard’.
Cllr David Cloke, mayor of West Devon, said: “These awards are always high quality. It is wonderful to read about the worthwhile contributions of those that live and work within our borough.”
If you are a resident, school or business and would like to nominate, either individuals or groups, who really help to make people’s lives better or those who have achieved something outstanding, then please get in touch.
The nomination form can be downloaded online by visiting http://www.westdevon.gov.uk/MayoralAwards and emailing the completed form to [email protected]. Alternatively, it can be returned to Mayor’s PA, West Devon Borough Council, Kilworthy Park, Drake Road, Tavistock, PL19 0BZ.
