A POSTMAN for the last 44 years, Stewart Parsons, of Halwill, will make his last delivery following his retirement on Monday, January 28.
Stewart has carried out the same round in Sheepwash for the last 42 years and said he has ‘thoroughly enjoyed his time’.
He said: “I had always fancied being a postman but my father before me was a postman for about 30 years. He always seemed to enjoy it so I joined and was lucky enough to work alongside him for 11 years.”
Stewart said over the years there had been many challenges: “Covering Sheepwash there were challenges, for example the river would flood and I have been through a snow drift but I have always enjoyed it!”
Stewart said he is looking forward to retirment and having ‘a bit of me time’.
