WALKERS assembled at Crooklets Beach Surf Life Saving Club on Sunday for the Great Atlantic charity walk, organised by the Rotary Club of Bude. Walkers trekked to Sandymouth and back via the South West Coastal Path, a total of some 7.5km. The walk was started by Ted Hambly, Bude's Citizen of the Year. Almost 100 people registered to take part and raised more than £1,100 for clubs and charities. This year, with the state of the beach still recovering from the severe spring storms, it caused safety problems from Menachurch Point, and walkers were warned of the situation. A number of them chose to take the risk and carry on. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
