STEPH Jones-Giles from Bude is halfway to completing a three-stone weight loss challenge for charity.

The Post previously reported that Steph is raising money for the Dr Hadwen Trust — the UK’s leading non-animal medical research charity — specifically for heart disease research in memory of her father Phil Jones, who died last year.

Her goal is to lose at least three stone and she has, as of last week, hit the halfway mark already with more than £1,400 pledged if she achieves her target.

Steph said: “I have such a clear motivation and tremendous support. Since the Post highlighted my challenge in January, David Herman of Fusion Fitness and Wellness Centre contacted me and offered free use of all facilities for the year.

“I was a little nervous but I am now attending two to three times a week and loving it!

“I was also approached by Paul Barlow, who offered to support me with the psychological aspects of the challenge.”

Paul said: “Through a friend I heard about Steph losing weight for charity, and I instantly felt compelled to offer my help. When we got together to talk about her weight loss goal and her reasons behind it, what struck me was her level of commitment to losing the weight.

“As a coach and psychologist I enjoy working with people who are committed and know what it is they want and why they want it. However, willpower, determination and having a good reason to change our weight or any other aspect of our lives often fails to keep us motivated, and this is where I can help.”

The Post will continue to follow Steph on her journey and if anyone is interested in sponsoring her or finding out more about the work of the Dr Hadwen Trust visit her Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/Steph-Jones-Giles or call her on 07971 454214.

The Bude Dr Hadwen Trust group meets on the third Sunday of every month at 11am at Crooklets Beach Café — everyone who is interested is welcome. Call Steph for more details.
