ONCE?again the All Blacks 'did not start to play' until the second half, scoring two tries, but the 17-0 deficit at the interval was the decisive factor.
Things went wrong from the Scottish kick-off, which was dropped by the All Blacks leading to a Scottish scrum. From this and almost unopposed the visitors number eight Mark Soden breezed through to score on the right for fly-half Brown to add the extras.
Home full back Roberts uncharacteristical missed a penalty and then prop Neil Bayliss was yellow carded.
Scottish took advantage of their numerical superiority. They had a powerful pack and some quick thinking backs and after a concerted period of rucking and driving close to the home line, they spun the ball left and full back John Bordiss went over on the overlap, Brown again converting.
With Bayliss off Tom Hurdwell had come on for the scrums with blindside flanker Liam Dwyer going off, all of which further disrupted the All Blacks composure.
The Scot's rounded off the half with Brown kicking a penalty from the 22 when the All Blacks went offside.
Early in the second half Brown landed his second penalty to stretch the lead further. Then the All Blacks number eight Josh Lord was sin-binned for stamping.
However, just after the hour, the Cornishmen looked a different team.
They attacked right and left; pacey left wing Richard Bright almost got through and centre Ryan Westren came agonizingly close wide-out before concerted rucking pressure on the far left ended with lock Ben Hilton touching down. The conversion was wide but at least the All Blacks were now on the board.
The Scottish attacking strategy seemed now off the menu and they just tried to soak up the mounting home pressure. Bright would have had the line at his mercy on the right but the last pass, from Hilton, was a very poor one.
