THE attics and cupboards of Launceston revealed some of their secrets last Thursday when around 30 visitors attended an antiques valuation day at Manaton Court in Dunheved Road.
The guest of honour at the event was TV star Ian Morris of Lostwithiel-based auctioneers Jefferys, who gave a talk to residents of the McCarthy and Stone retirement development and their guests before examining and valuing individual items.
Sales consultant Steve Whitman said: "Everyone enjoyed the day very much and Ian Morris was marvellous, giving each person as much time as they needed. Our residents invited friends along but quite a few of the visitor were people who had never been to Manaton Court before and were favourably impressed on looking round."
Manaton Court is a development of purpose-built retirement apartments, specially designed for people aged 60 and over.
Each one is connected to a 24-hour Careline system and TV camera security at the main entrance.
