THE area manager for Launceston’s Marie Curie fundraising group has received a ‘Star of the Quarter Century’ award from the charity.

Lynda Thomas is approaching her 25 year anniversary at Marie Curie, for which she is responsible for all the fundraising groups across Cornwall, including Launceston and Callington.

Lynda said on receiving the award: “I knew my 25 years was coming up but I didn’t know they were going to make a presentation, which was rather nice.”

Lynda believes she is the longest serving fundraiser for Marie Curie in the UK.

Throughout October the charity is looking for volunteers — anyone interested can call 01872 260500 or email [email protected]

The Launceston group’s annual meeting will be held on October 22, and anyone interested in attending is asked to call the above number for details.
