FEARS that insufficient funding would have a detrimental effect on staffing levels at the new Camelford Foyer were allayed at a recent Camelford Town Council meeting.
The 'Post' exclusively revealed in September that Camelford Town Council voiced strong concerns over staffing cover at the foyer.
Councillors were initially under the impression that there was to be a 24-hour manager at the premises, but Sue Elford, the council's representative on the foyer project, informed them that there was only enough funding to provide a manager for six hours per week.
At the council meeting on Tuesday, October 20, two representatives from Stonham — Mrs Sue Johns, Operation Manager and Mrs Mary Allan, Area Business Manager — attended to explain the background of the funding problems and allay fears over staffing levels.
Mrs Johns told the council that she had read of their fears in the paper. She noted that there were concerns over staffing of the project and questions over funding, but added: "We are really committed to making the project work and starting it with enough staff in there."
Mrs Johns explained that as well as a manager, there would be a few other people working at the foyer, including a project worker during the week and a concierge.
"We've actually got a lot of staffing for six young people," she added.
