FOLLOWING Holsworthy Town Council's decision to hand over responsibility for the St Peter's Fair Day Civic Lunch, the St Peter's Fair committee has taken over the event.
Last Tuesday evening (February 17), with the Portreeve, Major Mike Johns in the chair, the committee met at the White Hart to discuss the arrangements.
Tenders had been invited from local caterers, but although there had been three enquiries, only one had responded, Jon Hutchings of The White Hart, and his offer to provide a buffet lunch in the Memorial Hall between 12.45pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 8 was accepted.
It is anticipated that members of the Town Council and visiting dignitaries, the Court Leet and representatives of the parish church will attend, and will be joined by anyone from the local community who wishes to come. Tickets will be £11 and will be on sale at the Holsworthy Information Centre and The White Hart.
Major Johns said: "We want to break with the past and provide a celebratory lunch for all the people of Holsworthy."
