St Breward Brownies undertook a carwash last Saturday in the village to raise funds for ShelterBox as part of the village's efforts to support the charity supply their boxes to Haiti. A lot of cars were washed bearing in mind the charge of £3 per car! The Brownies raised £205 for the appeal. Marilyn Pluess, Barn Owl for the 1st St Breward Brownies, said: "The St Breward Village Hall Committee waived their charges for us and donated the water (metered supply) and everyone turned up in a gradual stream as we washed and turned out shining cars from 9am to 2.30pm. Caroline Ralph did the refreshments in the village hall, all donated to the funds, which helped to make our total for the car wash a grand £205.25. The girls are wonderful and I was so proud of them."

With sponges and buckets of hot soapy water, happy smiley faces, the 1st St Breward Brownies’ car wash outside the village hall, from left: local resident and helper Philip Ralph (standing), Kate Scott, Barn Owl Marilyn Pluess (standing), Daisy Finnemore, Ashleigh Harris, Caitlin Cox, Marie Raph, Anna Cornelius, Shannon Steed, Katie Morrish and Zara Teague.
