Sir, Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) recently announced their intention to sell an area of land forming the gardens of the Coal Office building to Saundersfoot Harbour Commission. It is intended that the gardens, which are located in the village centre, should be developed to create 10 new retail units and 20 room visitor accommodation. The closing date for written objections is Friday, May 15, and our community council are not scheduled to meet until May 7. In the meantime, the community council have not called a public meeting or announced if it will raise objections to the intended sale. Save Saundersfoot Coal Office has prepared two letters which are available at outlets displaying a poster, in the centre of the village. The first is to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority (PCNPA) requesting tree preservation orders for the commemorative trees planted within the gardens. The second, to PCC, is a 12-point letter of objection to the sale of the garden area. We would ask residents and visitors to collect (and as indicated on the letters - sign, date and provide the signees address for validation) and return these letters for collective submission to PCNPA and PCC by the Campaign. [Copies of the letters are also available for copying, printing and sending by accessing the Campaign's Facebook page (SaveSaundersfootCoalOffice) or by requesting printable copies from [email protected]">[email protected]]
