SPRING has taken hold of the cottage garden at Tintagel Old Post Office. The wet and warm weather has proved ideal for the shrubs and flowers and providing a vivid display of colour, texture and fragrance in the intimate space.

With the front garden dedicated as a space for dogs to relax in, the back garden is currently enjoyed by a friendly young rabbit.

Joanne McGilllivray, manager said: “We have a range of plants to actively encourage wildlife into the garden. The variety of plants over the seasons provides nectar for insects for much of the year. Birds, butterflies, bees, bats and slow worms are all regular visitors and now we have a fluffy bunny visiting each April.”

This year the National Trust’s property raffle income will be dedicated to a garden interpretation project. By buying a ticket visitors can help to raise funds for items such as extra information labels and boards plus bulbs and plants to keep the garden interesting throughout the seasons.
