GROUPS and individuals joined together at the weekend in an effort to clean up the streets of Launceston.

The Great British Spring Clean saw litter picking and tidying up in and around the town on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5.

The clean followed on from last year’s successful ‘Clean for the Queen’ litter picking initiative. It was organised by Dave Gordon.

Despite wet and windy conditions, the town council expressed its thanks for ‘the tremendous volunteer effort’.

The town council is awaiting a final ‘bag count’ from Biffa — and anyone who took part and who took rubbish away from them is encouraged to let the town council know how many bags they collected.
