ORGANIC farmer Alan Vague of St Issey, formerly born and bred in the Delabole area, has recently begun his lambing season on the farm.
He has 60 new lambs so far and after having all of the sheep scanned, Alan expects around 160 to 170 by March.
His grandchildren — Noah, Sayer and Malakai Vague — all love visiting the farm with their dad, Justin, and they popped in recently to see the new arrivals.
As well as lambs, Alan has some new born Hereford Cross calves. All of the animals and crops farmed are organic, with no chemicals or fertilisers used. This system has been used for around ten years on the farm.
Alan explained that regulations for the type of farming are strict and they are always having to think one step ahead. It took around two years to become an organic farm after changing from the traditional method.
