THIS week's school of the month feature is Boscastle Primary School.

'It is a good school,' says Ofsted. However the children, staff, governors and parents think it is a 'fantastic' school and are proud to be part of it.

Headteacher, Sarah Duffy said: "Our commitment to achievement is reflected in our outstanding academic results. Our English and maths results have been significantly above the national average for the past three years and we were ranked third in terms of attainment out of the 234 primary schools in Cornwall last year.

"We also place great emphasis on developing children's artistic, creative and sporting skills and have an excellent reputation in all these areas."

The school's Ofsted report from November 2011 commended the good progress made by all children throughout the school. The high quality of the children's work was praised, as were their results in national tests.

It was noted that 'pupils enjoy their learning, want to do well and try hard to succeed. These positive attitudes mean that pupils are well prepared for their next steps in education.'
