DESPITE a rather wet and windy start (the first in over 20 years) Bude Lifeboat Day was still enjoyed by many and most of the planned events still went ahead.
With record entries the rowing races started off the day and for the first time ever the men's race was won by a rower with a passenger.
Bude lifeboat crew then put on an excellent capsize drill in the canal using the RNLI's inshore lifeboat capsize hull and rescue demonstration with the Water Rescue Craft (RWC).
Bude Lifeboat Station is the only station in England to have the RWC as an additional craft for rescues and is shared between the lifeboat crew and RNLI beach lifeguards.
