A SPECTACULAR strike from Andy Cotton helped Bradworthy come from behind to leap frog Georgeham in the North Devon Premier League.
Bradworthy started brightly and could have been in front in the opening minutes. A harshly awarded penalty in the home side's favour gave Carlo Chandler a chance to score from the spot but his effort was saved by the feet of giant 'keeper John Vaughan.
Brad were punished soon after when a long free kick into the box was powerfully headed in by a Georgeham player who stole in front of his man. Bradworthy reacted well and were unlucky not to have a penalty after a Georgeham defender appeared to handle in the box.
As the pressure slowly mounted Toby Curtis fed the ball in behind the back line for Chandler to poke home right footed under the advancing 'keeper. Curtis then put Brad in front, capitalising on some hesitant defending to lift the ball over Vaughan.
The second half resumed at a more pedestrian pace as each side struggled to create any clear cut chances until Cotton's blistering strike sealed the game for the home side. As a corner was headed clear Cotton watched the ball drop and adjusted his feet to swivel and launch an unstoppable first time volley into the far corner from outside the box.
Any chance of a Georgeham comeback soon capitulated when Curtis escaped the Georgeham defence to latch on to Michael Sampson's quick throw and fire home.
Bradworthy had chances to extend their lead, Damian French seemed set to head in a corner but was crucially nudged out of the way by team-mate Chandler as he rose to connect before Ian Blake came close to a consolation for Georgeham but his close range header narrowly missed the target.
