A GROUP of young people from an area still affected by the Chernobyl disaster visited a Launceston optician to receive free eye examinations and glasses. Specsavers last week welcomed ten children from Chernobyl, where the effects of the nuclear disaster are still being felt 25 years later. Julia Peggs, store director of Specsavers in Launceston, said: "We have invited the children to the store for over eleven years and we welcome them back with open arms." For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.

THE visit was part of the children’s visit to the area and all treatment by Specsavers was completely free of charge
