The Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist, Morwenstow, was floodlit on Christmas Eve for a special evening carol service.
Sponsored by Travis Perkins, Arthur W Bryant Funeral Services and Bude Post Office, the lights gave locals some festive cheer to what has been a difficult year. Luke Francis, who helped organise the floodlit evening, said: “It’s the first time it’s been floodlit since the 1940s. I got the idea when I saw a postcard in nanny’s photo album. It was a Christmas postcard from ‘all at ovis’ – a farm out Morwenstow.”
The evening carol service was at 8pm. Rev Richard Ward Smith led the lessons and carols, and the organist was Luke Francis.
