A SPECIAL citizenship award has been presented to Holsworthy Primary School student Malih Ussy who will soon be returning to Mozambique.

This award is normally presented during the St Peter’s Fair week’s Court Leet, but was unable to take place this year due tot COVID.

Town Portreeve Barry Parrish was delighted to finally present Malih with his award.

A Holsworthy Primary School spokesperson said: “Malih is a wonderful individual who we have been incredibly fortunate to have as part of our school community for the past year. Malih, and his family, moved from Mozambique for the year to support family.

“Despite him being far from home and other members of his close family, he has always been incredibly cheerful and became a well-loved member of our school community instantaneously.

“Malih works extremely hard in class but also has a strong desire to ensure everyone around him is happy and able to achieve too. He notices when others aren’t feeling themselves and makes it his mission to make them smile.

“Whether that be a motivating chat or one of his comedy routines, Malih always achieves in this goal. He is an incredible role model, demonstrating all of our school values at all times and always so polite. I know he will make a huge difference to all of those lucky enough to be a part of his life in the future.”
