A spectacular gala dinner and dance organised by a Whitstone woman has raised £4,600 for charity.
Attended by 130 guests, the event was held at the stunning, newly refurbished Memorial Hall at Holsworthy in aid of Cancer Research UK.
It was organised by the Whitstone Cancer Research group, chaired by mother-of-three, Angela Edgcombe, of Oak Lane, who has secondary breast cancer.
Angela, 48, recently took part in a national fund raising fashion show modelled by breast cancer victims. To promote the event she appeared on ITV's breakfast programme with Lorraine Kelly, and was one of four of models featured in the Mail on Sunday's YOU magazine.
Former nurse, Angela, and her vice chair, Debbie Bishton, obtained a sensational selection of fabulous prizes for the raffle and a silent auction, raising £1,600.
Whilst dinner was served, guests were entertained on the piano and violin by husband and wife Tony and Hilary Littlewood of Whitstone.
The evening was sponsored by a dozen companies and organisations including Launceston Rotary Club.
Thanking them, Angela said: "Cancer shows no respect of class, creed or the credit crunch and one in three people will get cancer, representing 285,000 people in the UK, every year."
She went on to say that the support she received from her family and friends had helped to keep her going: "People like you give us hope — and I live in hope every day."
Angela, a newly joined member of Launceston Inner Wheel, then entertained the audience by singing some popular numbers before handing over to the Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band.
Fellow novice Inner Wheel member Jenny Campbell said: "Angela is a superbly talented amateur singer and endeared herself to everyone with her sparkling performance.
"She has worked incredibly hard to achieve this stunning result."
The next fund raising event is on Saturday at Whitstone Village Hall when the Minstrels Choir and the Mini Minstrels from Minstrels Music Centre at Canworthy Water will perform.
