TWO Budehaven students have been recognised by Sound Waves South West and have been jointly awarded the Perryman/Bolitho Award for Musical Achievement 2015.
Saxophonist Joe Compton and singer Elizabeth Hobbs attended the SWSW award ceremony held at number eight Ocean View Road on Saturday, July 18, where they both picked up cheques to the value of £100.
The Trustees found the decision very difficult this year due to the high quality of the nominees, and although Joe and Elizabeth nabbed the top prize, all those nominated received certificates.
To add to Joe’s achievement, he has successfully auditioned to join the Saturday sessions held at Trinity School of Music in London — another huge achievement as places are highly sought after, whilst Elizabeth has taken part in a range of concerts in the community this year including being the guest artiste for Bude Concert Orchestra.
