FOLLOWING discussions between Torridge District Council and Holsworthy Town Council recently regarding a day free parking in the town’s Torridge run car parks, it was hoped a solution could be reached.
The town clerk Vanessa Saunders has since spoken with representatives from Torridge District Council in more depth about the Torridge free parking day and both the town and district councils have worked together to find a solution to the issue that was acceptable to both.
Cllr James Morrish, lead member on Torridge District Council for the economy, said: “When we were first alerted that there were concerns from the town council over the parking we held a couple of meetings with members and have been able to sort out a satisfactory solution which I think will benefit the shop owners, towns peope and visitors to Holsworthy.
“I think Holsworthy is happy with the decision and the rest of Torridge is now worse off.”
Since then the matter of the free car parking over Christmas has been resolved thanks to the officers and members of Torridge District Council.
