WHO let the dogs out? Class 2 did.
Pupils from Holsworthy Primary School were delighted to welcome Norman, Ned, Sunny and Effie, four golden labradors.
Millie Kempton, Year 2 class teacher, said: “The puppies were bred by my parents and myself and the class have been observing them since they were born to see how they have changed as they have grown. This was linked to our science topic.
“The visit was to allow the children to meet the puppies, as they had shown such a keen interest in them and were forever asking me questions.”
She added: “The children were so excited, as I’m sure you can imagine, to meet the puppies. We spent an hour playing, talking and getting to know the puppies (Norman, Effie, Ned and Sunny). The children were asking myself, my mum (Steph) and sister (Georgia) about the litter and how we looked after them etc.”
The pupils were indeed excited to meet the canines. Eliza Jeffery particularly enjoyed reading the puppies a topic book about the World Cup, Harry Yelland said ‘they are soft and fluffy’ and Mason Stoneman was a ‘superstar’ and had lots of prior knowledge he could share with his friends about caring for a puppy.
Leona Mayall however has been afraid of dogs since she was quite young but managed to conquer her fear and really enjoyed getting to know all four puppies and playing with/caring for them.
