STARTING off the May Day weekend Celebrations, South Petherwin Parish Council, organised the NCDC Skate park on Saturday at South Petherwin Community School. Between 10 am and 1 pm, more than twenty children of all ages, 7- 15 years, pedalled and skated their way around the skate park in the brilliant spring sunshine.

Harvey and Oscar Jones commented that it was "very good and should happen again." Lucy Hamilton added that: "It is great fun! Loved it," and Ed Delaforce called the event "Rad."

South Petherwin Parish chairman and organiser Phil Parsons was happy that the sun shone and the event went well, commenting.

"This was once again a very successful event helping to start our May Day celebrations. It was good to see so many young people enjoying themselves. They love the thrill of ramps, bikes and skateboards. Keeps them fit. Gets them to learn new skills, take risks and socialise. All in a safe environment."

"The next Skatepark event will be at Tregadillett school car park on Saturday, June 6 at 10am to 1.00pm. Contact Trevor Rossiter 01566 772038.

"Finally, I would like to thank South Petherwin School for hosting the event, Cornwall Council officers for running it and all the young people and parents for supporting and South Petherwin parish Council for making it a success. Thanks everybody for a really fun morning."
