WORK is progressing on a new skate park for Camelford.
An update was given at last week’s Camelford Community Network Panel meeting by Amanda Musgrave, deputy town clerk.
Three tenders have been received, with one further tender due in. The town council is currently looking into viability of the project and whether or not it will need planning permission. They hope to award the contract in October. Grants will be applied for in the autumn based on the winning tender.
Ms Musgrave said: “We want it to be unique. People will want to come to Camelford to use it. We’ve got some interesting tenders coming in with some fantastic designs. It’s quite exciting.
“There’s a lot of work to be done. We have had feedback at the Camelford Show, which was really positive. Kids are really excited.”
While it is primarily a skate park, the town council hope the project will become a multi-use site, with a basketball court and gym equipment.
Ms Musgrave added: “It’s very exciting and hopefully will transform that area and bring people in. We could have street vendors, art festivals — endless possibilities up there.”
