WARBSTOW Church held their sixth annual flower festival recently, which this year was based on ‘All Things Cornish’.
The event is organised by Warbstow Floral Art Group but many other talents were encouraged to contribute and the response created a wealth of Cornish experiences including Cornish tin mines, gig racing, shipwrecks, Bodmin Moor, Cornish pirates — rugby, food and drink — Cornish pasties, Cornish fishermen and the Isles of Scilly.
In addition to the flower festival, a folk evening featuring the folk group Tregallion & Caryllion, was held on the Friday evening of the weekend. They provided a selection of songs, many Cornish, accompanied with guitars, mandolin and tin whistle. A wealth of musical talent was enjoyed by an audience of more than 60.
A spokesperson from the flower festival said: “A big thank you to all those involved, not only from the flower group but also to Canworthy Water and Bethel Methodists, Graham and Angela North’s care of the churchyard and entrance, and to our catering team who provided refreshments throughout the weekend. Finally, thank you to all who supported us. You helped us to raise £803, which we are hoping to use to restore the north aisle windows.”
