THE public will have the chance to comment on how the development of a site earmarked for 285 homes will proceed.

A series of consultation events on the master plan for the site at Crick Road on the outskirts of Caldicot will start later this week.

The site is expected to provide 285 homes with around 2.5 acres of land dedicated to employment use as well as open space.

Monmouthshire County Council is preparing a masterplan to guide matters such as access, access, design layout, pedestrian, cycle and vehicle routes, open space, landscaping and links to wider community facilities.

The council says the masterplan will not reopen the debate on whether the land should be developed or the number of houses, which are matters that have already been decided and cannot be changed.

The consultation events take place at Portskewett Church Hall, Crick Road from 4pm to 6pm on Friday (May 15), Caldicot market in the town centre on Tuesday, May 19 between 9am and 12pm, Portskewett Recreation Hall, Manor Way on Thursday, May 21 between 5pm and 7pm and Caldicot Leisure Centre on Saturday, May 23 between 10am and 12pm.

The deadline for responses is noon Friday, May 29 and comments can also be made at the council's website http://www.monmouthshire.gov.uk">www.monmouthshire.gov.uk – search for Crick Road.

Feedback forms will also be available from Friday at Caldicot Leisure Centre, Portskewett Recreation Hall, Portskewett Pharmacy in Main Road and Archbishop Rown Williams Primary School in Crick Road.
