HANNAH Dawe, aged 15 of Launceston, has recently made it to the regional finals of the biggest music competition in the UK for singers and solo artists — Open Mic UK.

Open Mic UK gives opportunities including the chance to perform live in front of some of the country's top producers, Label execs, promoters and DJs.

Over £50,000 in prizes are up for grabs along the way with the winner offered a recording contract and up to £30,000 investment.

After seeing the competition advertised, auditions began last month and Hannah, accompanied by Marcus Cole on the guitar, was given the good news following their audition at Plymouth Guild Hall with a song and music that they co-produced.

Hannah and Marcus both study at Launceston College and are thrilled with the good news. They competed against around 150 people in the first audition and will compete against roughly 50 in the next round.

They are through to the next round on October 9 and if successful, will go on to the area finals, before being faced with auditions for the national final at the 02 Arena in London.

Hannah has been singing for two/three years and will be performing at No 8, Launceston, on September 29 and at Jerichos Brasserie on September 30.
