BUDE and Holsworthy Circuit Singers presented Thank You For The Music over three nights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday June 3, 4 and 5 at three venues which were St Nectan’s Parish Church, Hartland, Bude Methodist Church and St Marwenne’s Parish Church, Marhamchurch.

For this production eight favourite hymns were chosen and then each of them were twinned with a modern piece that complemented the hymn.

Lorna Cox then collated the background information on the hymns and wrote all the links that were then narrated by various members of the choir.

The narrated parts focussed on the lives, experiences, life changing moments and thoughts that prompted the great hymn writers to write their songs.

All three venues saw good attendances with audiences showing their appreciation with constant applause.

Conductor, Andrew Pitt who formed the singers eight years ago, has now stepped down after leading the singers through 16 productions.

Grateful thanks were expressed to Andrew for his enthusiasm and hard work in forming and drawing together just over 60 voices from a starting point of 16.

The singers have come from all corners of the circuit and beyond with an understanding that all are welcome and many lives have been touched.

Musicians providing accompaniment were Sarah Riviere, piano; Coral Locke, guitar; Matt Bosustow, bass; Len Tozer, trombone and Cliff Pryor on drums.

The following amounts were donated by the appreciative audiences — £275 at Hartland for Harbour, Bideford; £572 at Bude for Bude Methodist Church Funds/Roof; £300 at Marhamchurch for Stratton Hospital League of Friends, raising a grand total of £1,147.

Since the singers were formed in 2008 a total of £16,000 has been raised for worthy causes.
