A RUMOUR that affordable housing to be provided on Holsworthy's Old Showground, for people further afield than the local area, as far as Manchester or Birmingham, has been subdued by the Leader of Torridge District Council.

At the Holsworthy Town Council meeting on July 13, Cllr Miranda Howrihane asked Cllr Barry Parsons (Leader of TDC) if he could clarify the "strange rumours" that had been heard around the town to do with the local housing needs, as part of the complex being developed by Redrow.

She explained that Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council was concerned after hearing speculations from people, which also affected the Hamlets area.

"They have a concern because of the cascade of housing. Can you clarify or quash them?"
