I WAS telephoned recently by someone claiming to be undertaking a shopping survey for Devon County Council. They asked all sorts of questions about what we buy, where we shop, what time, which day of the week etc.

After the call I felt uneasy so dialled 1471: number withheld. I rang DCC and discovered that no such ­survey was being carried out. The caller obviously wanted to find out what sort of items we buy and when we would be out of the house!

I strongly advise people not to participate in such ­surveys unless the caller reveals a checkable identity.
