THE farming community in the Davidstow and Camelford area have been extra vigilant after a number of sheep were killed and butchered on Davidstow Moor. Camelford Police have issued a warning to anyone offered mutton or lamb for sale, following the incident which took place sometime between the afternoon of Tuesday, March 4 and 3pm the following day. Four sheep, which had been killed and butchered, were found on the moor area near Camelford. The meat had been removed from the carcasses of the sheep. Julie Dowton, from the Davidstow and West Moors Commoners Association, told the 'Post': "There's always rustling going on but this was particularly grim as in so much as there were two sheep from one farm and two from another and they had their throats slit. They had not been stunned so it was a pretty awful thing to do. "The animals were killed inhumanely and the meat removed and they left the unborn foetuses of the lambs and the heads, but the meat had been taken."
