RAY and Lyn Fursdon of Holsworthy, recently held a ‘Firework Shedfest’ for neighbours and friends.
It is an event the Fursdons have held for the last few years — a firework display with food, for which they charge a nominal fee, with any profits given to a local charity. The sum of £220 was raised for their chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Lyn said: “The event is more of a social occasion, for friends and neighbours, a chance for people to get together, and catch up with each other, as we all seem to live such busy lives.
“This year we decided to ask a neighbour, who is going through breast cancer treatment, who she would like the money donated to, and her chosen charity was Macmillan Cancer Support.
“The money also had to stay in the North Devon area, which this money has, and will be distributed to the Cancer Support Unit at the North Devon District Hospital.
