A PUBLIC meeting is to be held in Shebbear, as campaigners plan to oppose three controversial wind turbine applications.

Current proposals in the Shebbear area include a 46m turbine at Henscott, a 79m one at Durpley Farm, and a 102m tall turbine at Alscott Farm — the largest turbine currently in the planning system and is believed to be seen from as far as Launceston and Barnstaple.

Steve Harrup from opposition group, Shebbear Parishes Protection Group (SPPG), said: "It's totally unacceptable to have these huge industrial wind turbines spoiling this beautiful rural landscape. We will be strongly objecting. This is not green, its greed. Pure and simple."
