ROYALIST Cornwall struck a decisive blow for the King in 1643 when, after a ten-hour battle, their smaller force succeeded in storming the Parliamentarian lines and gained a famous victory, the Battle of Stratton. The Sealed Knot's re-enactment of the battle has become a favourite fixture in the local events calendar and took place again at Stratton Primary School's Playing Fields on the weekend commencing Saturday, May 14.

"Today, watching the news," said an event spokesperson, "seeing people demonstrating and dying for the right to have a say in the running of their own lives, we can easily forget that our island nation has been there and done that!"
