ON A rather gloomy, grey and wet day the good people of Bridgerule and beyond turned out to support the village's seventh open gardens event in aid of Devon and Cornwall Air Ambulance charities.
Enthusiastic gardeners had cut, mowed, weeded and tidied up their gardens in time for June 10 which is now firmly part of Bridgerule's yearly activities. They had a tremendous response and managed to raise over £1,800, which will be divided between both charities.
Local people, as well as holidaymakers, were once again extremely generous in support of the event. For the entrance fee of £3.50 visitors could visit all seven gardens, the church exhibition and the chapel.
