Seven candidates have indicated that they intend contesting the parliamentary constituency of Monmouth in the general election.

Nominations closed last Thursday at 4pm. The seven candidates are: Jonathan Thomas Clark (Plaid Cymru), David Thomas Charles Davies (Welsh Conservative Party, Gareth Dunn (United Kingdom Independence Party), Veronica Kathleen German (Liberal Democrat), Ruth Lorraine Jones (Welsh Labour), Stephen Morris (English Democrats) and Chris Were (Green Party).

The counting of votes for the Monmouth constituency will take place on polling day evening from 10pm at Chepstow Leisure Centre.

Only people registered on the electoral roll will be able to vote - applications to register must be received no later than Monday April 20. Residents who are not yet registered may register to vote online at: gov.uk/registertovote

Applications for postal votes must be received by 5pm on Tuesday April 21. Application forms are available by contacting Monmouthshire's elections office on 01633 644212.
