The Camelford branch of the Royal British Legion held a service in St Thomas's Church, Camelford, to commemorate Victory in Europe in 1945, at 3pm on Sunday.

The service was taken by the Rev Peter Dixon, priest-in-charge of the Camel-Allen Cluster, and the Rev John Henry-Barfoot, the Camelford RBL branch chaplain.

During the service the standard was presented to Mr Dixon by Gary Brooks. Lessons were read by Group Captain Andrew Ades and the branch Poppy Appeal organiser, Vaughan Williams, the president of Camelford RBL.

Robin Moore read a poem penned by a former Camelford Alderman, Mr T E Wakefield, in 1919 for the end of the First World War. The exhortation with the names of the fallen was read by Cameron Valentine, secretary of the Camelford branch RBL.

The church was decorated by Val Bluett and pictures, along with details of the nine fallen, were displayed on the wall.
