THIS was an end to end game with both sides capable of winning but just when it looked like it was going to end in a stalemate Southgate snatched two late goals, writes Kevin Hoare.

Southgate took the lead early on when a Tom Horn free kick found Andy Crocombe and he headed home with the home 'keeper stranded, but Bridgerule came storming back when Dan Tape sliced through Southgate's defence to score, then Matt Tape added a second when his free kick was blasted home from the edge of the area.

As the game fluctuated Tom Horn found Stan Smith in the penalty area and he coolly finished with a shot at the near post, the persistence of Wayne Francome saw him charge down a clearance from the 'keeper and he was able to roll the ball into an empty net to give the away side the lead before half time.

A controversial penalty led to Bridgerule equalising early in the second period but not directly from the spot, the initial penalty was saved but when the ball was squared Dan Tape had the relatively easy task of side-footing home. Bridgerule were now in the ascendancy but Southgate stood firm and as the game appeared to be heading towards a draw Kenny Channing burst past two defenders down the right before squaring to Francome who scored with neat finish.

Southgate were not finished however as they clinched the points when Horn's corner was headed over the line for the fifth in the dying seconds.
