PEOPLE in Camelford were pleased to receive a star-studded appearance last week, as the cast and crew of popular ITV series, Doc Martin, made their way to the town to film part of the new series.
Doc Martin, which has been delighting viewers across the UK since 2004 with its light-hearted story lines, set in the picturesque village of Port Isaac, which is transformed into the fictional fishing village of ‘Portwenn’. The series follows grumpy doctor, Martin Ellingham, and his time spent in the Cornish fishing village as he settles in with the characterful locals.
The cast were filming for their ninth series, with the area around Camelford being a key setting for the series, Port Isaac being nearby. However, cast, including Doc Martin and his on-screen wife Louisa (Caroline Catz), could be seen outside the library in Camelford filming a scene for the new series.
Camelford librarian, Bronwen Hockerday, town councillor Emma Grigg and PC Michael Dodd were amongst those in the town who were able to catch a sneak peak of the filming, and even posed for selfies and photos with some of the popular stars, including John Marquez, who plays PC Joe Penhale; Joe Absolom, who plays Al Large and even the main man himself, Martin Clunes, who plays Doctor Martin Ellingham.
Eight episodes are in line for series nine, with a release date for the new series yet to be announced.
