On Saturday, Wayne Mettam, an IT Support Engineer from Morwenstow, will be leaving the relative
safety of his office and taking to the skies above Perranporth in a perfectly good aircraft — then jumping out of it at 10,000ft for an exhilarating skydive! Wayne was due to complete the skydive on May 23, but when he turned up for the event, he found it had been cancelled due to a fault with the aircraft. He is hoping Saturday will be more
successful! Wayne is doing the skydive to raise funds for the charity, Diabetes UK, and said: "I know a lot of people who suffer from diabetes and want to do my bit to try to find a cure for them, or at least to help make their lives better. My wife, Sarah, has Type 1 diabetes so I have a good insight to what it can do. I have always wanted to do a
skydive too and as it was my 40th birthday
recently, I thought that this would be as a good time as any!" Diabetes UK is currently in its 25th year of helping sufferers. You can still sponsor Wayne online by visiting http://www.justgiving.co.uk/waynemettam">www.justgiving.co.uk/waynemettam.
